Prior LOGISTICS EXPERIENCE in a MANUFACTRUNG Environment is REQUIRED.
OVERALL ROLE:
Provides hands on management of the operations of the Logistics Group, Inventory Control Specialist and will over time take on supervision for both the Shipping and Receiving Groups. Must be wiling and capable to provide back up coverage in all areas including the office and warehouse functions. Regular, predictable, on-site attendance is an essential function of the job.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the oversight of the Logistics Group
- Overall responsibility for Shipping and Receiving Groups.
- Responsible for the Inventory Control Specialists and all associated inventory cycle count activities.
- Planning of logistical activities including layout of material and shipping warehouses to optimize space and efficiency.
- Optimize material handling to production areas (material allocation concept).
- Manage cycle count activities on a regular basis and make recommendations regarding obsolescence of materials and finished goods.
- Make recommendations and coordinate with materials management cost reduction initiatives for resins, secondary materials and skids.
- Conduct planning and productivity initiatives with personnel under direct supervision.
- Facilitate mold returns.
- Ensure adequate and appropriate training is provided for subordinate personnel. Recommend training as opportunities emerge.
- Ensure cross training is completed to ensure coverage during absences.
- Participate in developing programs for inventory consignment and supplier stocking.
- Manage recycling program for scrap materials and corrugated.
- Assist the Director of Supply Chain with any projects as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 5 years of Logistics experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment is required,
- Must have a strong analytical background, reporting capabilities and strong PC skills including intermediate proficiency in Microsoft office suite of products and fluency in ERP systems.
- Working knowledge of all aspects of logistics management (Inventory Control, Shipping, and Receiving).
- Must be committed to customer service, well organized, able to plan and prioritize assignments, able to effectively handle multiple tasks simultaneously and proven ability to achieve desired results.
- Possess a general knowledge of related organization policies and procedures and their application in day-to-day logistics management activities.
- Must have ability to coach/mentor and train others.
- Must possess good judgement, ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, be courteous and professional when interacting with colleagues and customers, demonstrate a solid ability to identify and solve problems, and be able to work successfully in a team environment as well as the ability to work independently toward common goals.
